Chowking whips up healthy, meatless dish
Enjoying a meatless and healthy dining experience can be had in a visit to a Chowking store anytime, any day.
Chowking recently introduced a new fish dish that combines the health benefits of fish and tofu, wrapped in a merry mix of tausi sauce. The new dish has marinated fish slices fried to inner tenderness but with a moderate outside crisp and stir-fried with other ingredients, including Chinese tofu.
Scientists and nutritionists are one in saying that it is a good idea to include fish and tofu in the diet every week.
According to the Food and Nutrition Research Institute website (www.fnri.dost.gov.ph), fish is a perfect meat substitute as it has less total fat and saturated fat than meat and poultry. “Substituting fish for more traditional plate foods like pork and beef is a great way to cut back on our fat intake and maintain a low-fat eating plan. Fish is also a source of omega-3 fatty acids, a form of polyunsaturated fat which research suggests may help lower the risk of heart,” it said.
This was corroborated by a Harvard School of Public Health study in 2006, considered the single most comprehensive analysis to date on fish and health. Harvard researchers found that one to two servings of fish per week reduces the risk of coronary heart disease by 36 percent and the rate of death by 17 percent or more.
