Honeymoon pampering (and more) by the beach

MANILA, Philippines – Boracay off-season doesn’t have to be glum and sordid. The usual party crowd may not be there, but there’s no such thing as off-peak season in beach vacations.

Kai Regency Spa is a luxurious destination spa in Boracay Regency Beach Resort. (Seair flies to Boracay daily.)

Kai Spa is a P50-million project on the third and fourth levels of the newly opened Garden Wing. It has Oriental interiors, calming ambiance and soothing scent.

Massage, anyone?

VIP massages are done in the Imperial Suites equipped with a shower room.
Kai Signature Massage promotes blood circulation and tones the body; two therapists go in synch using traditional lomi-lomi massage strokes in Four Hand Harmony Massage.
The Aroma Hot Stone Massage uses black basalt volcanic stones placed on “energy points” to ease tense muscles.

For something homegrown, there’s the Filipino Hagud, a variation of the hilot using natural oils.

Massages done in the Royal Sanctuary Room include the Kai Royal Thai Massage with lots of stretching to relieve stiff joints—a favorite among water-sports enthusiasts; and Oriental Shiatsu, which utilizes finger pressure to alleviate headaches and insomnia.

The Hawaiian Lomi-Lomi, Aromalymhtheraphy and Well-being Swedish massage are all available in the Emperor’s Courtyard or common room.

Honeymoon treats

Kai Spa’s Romantic Ritual for honeymooners include the use of thermarium, welcome drinks, fruit selection, warm foot bath with sea salt and flowers, a gift, and a pot of hot ginger-lemongrass tea.
