Bail for mayor, son in Drilon kidnap nixed
MANILA, Philippines – A petition to post bail by a mayor and his son, who has been linked to the kidnapping of a television anchor and her crew, has been denied by a local court.
In an order, Judge Esperanza Cortez of Branch 271 of the Pasig City regional trial court, said the evidence of guilt was strong against Indanan Mayor Alvarez Isnaji and Haider who were accused abducting Ces Drilon, her cameramen, and a professor in June 2008 and of demanding ransom in exchange for their release.
The case for kidnapping-for-ransom was filed against the Isnajis before the Parang, Sulu regional trial court on July 22, 2008.
The Supreme Court has ordered the transfer of the case to the Pasig RTC.
